Global eleagues, the Irish-based eSports company, have announced that the finals of the Sportego eLeague will take the form of a LAN event in the De Grolsh Veste Stadium, home to Dutch Eredivisie club, FC Twente, on the 24th of May, 2018.

The Sportego eLeague has seen 64 clubs and eSports organisations face off against each other in two divisions, PS4 and Xbox. A successful partnership with Goal has seen a weekly highlights programme broadcast online along with the top goals from each week, culminating in the final event in May.

The show, broadcast through the Goal Facebook following of 17 million, saw great online engagement on a weekly basis. The LAN event will see the top 4 teams from each division visit the Netherlands, with the winners of each division playing against each other for a share of the prize pot of $10,000.

The finals will be broadcast live through Twitch, Twitter and live through the Goal Facebook Page.

Speaking at the announcement, Jan van Halst – Commercial Director FC Twente said “We see huge potential in eSports and after the development of our own game skybox we are very proud to host the Sportego eLeague as the first big eSports event at our stadium, De Grolsch Veste.”

The live event will be managed by Bundled, an international eSports events and talent management company. Bundled's CEO, Melvyn Wolthers, expressed his enthusiasm at having a major FIFA eSports event at FC Twente “We are very excited with this partnership and we are delighted that the Sportego eLeague has decided to host the LAN portion of the eleague in the Netherlands. We look forward to delivering a great show with some of the best gamers in Europe on show”.

Geoff Wilson, a co-founder of Global eLeagues is hoping to build on the success of the online league “The league has been fiercely competitive this year, with some great players from clubs like AS Roma, Man City, West Ham and organisations like Goal, Epsilon & Futwiz all being involved to see who will take the ultimate prize”.

The finalists of the Sportego eLeague are:

PS4 Division: exceL Esports (@xL_Kev96), Sparta Rotterdam (@AjaxLev63), Brøndby IF (@FIFA_Fredberg) and FC Basel (@CodyderFinisher).

Xbox Division: FC Twente (@Emrebenli_7), vFl Bochum (@MegaBit98), SBV Excelsior (@LevyFrederique) and FOKUS Clan (@proownezyt).
